Family disappointed as plumber gets 28 years for girlfriend's murder
A 41-year-old plumber who beat his 19-year-old girlfriend to death with an iron rod and dumped her body under a bridge has been sentenced to 28 years' direct imprisonment, but the victim's family believes he deserved a life sentence. The Mthatha Regional Court on Friday sentenced Ayanda Nkathula for the March 6 2025 murder of Smanye Zilindlovu at Payne village near Mthatha.

Nahoon Beach has been temporarily closed after a shark was sighted on Saturday morning. Buffalo City Metro said the closure was a precautionary measure, warning swimmers and beachgoers not to enter the beach until further notice.
