Arts and culture in spotlight at national conference in Gqeberha

Arts organisations across SA, particularly in the Eastern Cape, have been urged to get â grant readyâ through strict compliance and governance before applying for funding. Speaking at the National Arts and Culture Council Sector Conference in Gqeberha, funding leaders highlighted the critical need for alignment between national and provincial structures. Sector stakeholders, including the National Lotteries Commission and the National Arts Council, also cautioned applicants against over-relying on artificial intelligence for funding proposals, while calling for an end to siloed operations to ensure resources directly reach grassroots artists.
